Visiting a doctor or having tests will cost you less once you have reached the Medicare Safety Net threshold. The Medicare Safety Net provides financial assistance for people who incur high medical costs by minimizing their out of pocket expenses. Once the family reaches the relevant threshold they still pay the same amount upfront to see the doctor but they receive a higher rebate.

We offer bulk billing to all children 13 years and under, Veteran Affairs, and for all care plan, care plan reviews and health assessments.
As a Health Care Card Holder, the Medicare Safety Net commences when you and your family have spent $717.90 in medicare gap payments. This includes gaps on GP visits, specialist’s visits and for X-rays and other tests. Once you have reached this threshold, Medicare will begin paying the Schedule Fee plus 80% of the Gap fee.
